Ocean Steel & Ocean Constructors constructed this Yuma, Arizona site for the U.S. Military. Our scope of work was to design and build a turn-key project, including engineering, foundation construction, fabrication and installation of a 200’ tower and building platform, and building installation. We worked with Allen Engineering, Inc. out of San Bernardino, California as part of a larger project.
Poor site access, difficult geology, and an overall rugged environment posed several logistical challenges that required time intensive procedures and a bit of innovation on a daily basis throughout the project.
The foundations are rock-anchor foundations with pier caps for both the tower and building platform. In total, there are 12 anchored piers installed on the site. The difficult site location prohibited access to cranes, so the structures were assembled with winches and gin pole as seen in the pictures.
